Just finished putting up food for the Boo Unit. I froze about 2 1/2 qts of squash, 2 qts of sweet potatoes, 1 qt of carrots, and 3 qts of bananas. She eats a lot of bananas. It took six Big Cube ice trays and five regular ones to get it all done, so the freezer is something of a danger zone of ice cube trays right now.
I'm worried about my food processor. I'm not sure exactly how old it is, because it belonged to my grandmother. This is usually a good provenance for things like furniture and so on, but not necessarily a plus for kitchen appliances. It's starting leaking oil around the base of the turn shaft, and apart from the effect this might potentially have on its functionality, I'm worried about Boo ingesting food-processor oil with her bananas. I may have to replace it, which would somewhat negate the whole point of trying to save money by making the baby food myself.
Speaking of freezing, Albert and I have taken the plunge and purchased a deep freezer. It's still a toss-up as to whether or not the company will actually agree to deliver it to an apartment bedroom, but we'll find out Saturday. At the moment, I'm limited to what I can freeze by the size of our refridgerator's freezer, and it'd be very, very nice to have some space for more frozen stuff.
